About The Ocean Springs Playgroup

Who we are:
The Ocean Springs Playgroup was founded in January of 2007. The original founder recognized a great shortage of activities available for preschoolers and the playgroup was created! Our group consists of both stay at home moms , stay at home dads, and working outside the home moms. The age ranges in our group are pregnant moms to 10 year olds. Most of our events are geared towards pre-school aged children; however there are plenty of younger children in the group that get a lot of playtime. This group is fully funded by our members, and our organizers offer their time on a voluntary basis. In addition, all members are encouraged to welcome new moms and children, and all newcomers should introduce themselves at activities in order to be recognized. We welcome new members, but we do not want to approach unassuming strangers because we do not know who is meeting us for the first time. Often times, the moms in the playgroup can be identified by a purple jelly bracelet with yellow writing that says "Ocean Springs Playgroup". Our group does not restrict membership to Ocean Springs only, if you live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, you are welcome to join us.

What we do:
What don't we do? Our group is VERY active. We have two to five events in a week. When the weather participates we have a weekly strollersizing event. We will either meet in a mall or outdoors by the ocean and walk briskly while our kiddos sit in their strollers. On the other days of the weeks, we have in home play dates, trips to local parks, trips to Gulf Island National Seashore events, McDonalds Playplace dates, story time at local libraries, La Leche League Meetings, Nottoolittle.com trips, Lynn Meadows Discover Center (Children's Museum LMDC.ORG) trips, trips to the beach, holiday themed events, trips to Audubon Zoo in New Orleans and we will attend community events such as Arbor Day Celebrations, Parades, Art Festivals and Bar-B-Que?s. If you are expecting and you are a member of our group, when you have the baby we will deliver three nights of meals to your home. Drum Roll.... Try not to jump out of your seat.... A monthly Mom's night out-( I saw that smile)!

About our Organizer team.
Your organizer team is made of of 7 moms. Each mom volunteers 100% of their time to keep the playgroup running smoothly with exciting and educational activities. Each mother was voted into their role on the organizer team by their peers in the playgroup. With 7 moms on the organizer team a great variety of activities is available for kids of all ages.

How do I sign up?
One can never be too careful when it comes to the internet. For the safety of our children, we ask that you attend an event with your children and you will be given access to the website for full access to our group. If you are being referred by an existing member, please email us and let us know that as well. When you contact us, we can tell you when and where to meet up with us. When you become a member you'll have free access to our message boards and group calendar system. Our message boards obtain a wealth of information from physician & babysitter referrals to items for sale. You can email me by selecting the blue, contact me link to the left under Questions.

Are there any membership requirements? Like all successful organizations we do have membership guidelines in place to make things run smoothly. We do ask that you attend one event every 45 days to be considered a member.

How much does it cost? Dues are $10 annually
