About Meetup Moms Group of Tucson

Welcome to another great year with Meetup Moms of Tucson! We are so happy to have you and your family in the group! We are always happy to have new members and are always looking for new things to do. Our group is full of supportive local moms (dads are welcome at most events, too) looking for friendship, advice, and fun for the kiddies. We have activities all over Tucson, a book club, scrapbook meets, park playdates, home playdates, craft nights, charity events, organized walking groups, and a Mom's night out at least once a month. We are a fairly new group whose aim in to be inclusive of all types of families and parenting styles.

In hoping to make this year our best year ever, we have decided that our goal for 2009 is to move beyond the superficial and to BE REAL!

Parenting is hard work. Relationships are tough. Sometimes we feel like we have it all together and sometimes we feel like we're falling apart. With over 100 families in Meetup Moms, chances are great that there is another mom (or 100) experiencing the same challenges and triumphs as you. You are not alone!

Many of us have already learned how supportive the moms of Meetup Moms can be in the face of life's ups and downs. However, newer members might not realize what a wonderful resource other moms can be!

The truth is, nobody expects perfection– just authenticity. It is easy to share the great news in your life, but admitting that you need support, even when surrounded by non-judgmental friends, can be very difficult. Many of us have been conditioned to strive for that Super Mom illusion– something we instinctively know doesn't even exist!

Let's be real in 2009! When we decide to share in both life's joys and its sorrows, when we feel comfortable enough to really communicate and move beyond "I'm fine, how are you?" to "I'm having a tough day"- only then do we open the door for meaningful conversation and real friendship.

So make the effort to engage in real conversations– to ask someone how they are and really listed to their answer– and to give real answers of your own! Post a supportive note on the message board when a friend needs you, or make time to send a personal email, make a phone call, or bring a meal.

Reach out and be real! Whether it is to lift someone else up, or to sustain yourself, you will be glad you did!
