How Does Your Garden Grow
Today we: Literacy: Read: Lily?s Garden by Deborah Ray and How a Seed Grows by Helene Jordan and Jack and the Bean Stalk. Music: Sang: A Little Seed and Garden Song (www.gardenofsong.com) Inch by inch, row by row Gonna make this garden grow All it takes is a rake and a hoe And a piece of fertile ground Inch by inch, row by row Someone bless these seeds I sow Someone warm them from below 'Till the rain comes tumbling down. Pulling weeds and pickin' stones; Man is made of dreams and bones Feel the need to grow my own, 'Cause the time is close at hand. Grain for grain, sun and rain, Find my way in nature's chain Tune my body and my brain, To the music from the land. Plant your rows straight and long, Temper them with a prayer and song. Mother Earth will make you strong If you give her love and care. An old crow watching hungrily From his perch in yonder tree. And in my garden I'm as free As that feathered thief up there. Science and Nature: Learned about how plants grow from seeds and how they need water and sun. Looked at different vegetables and noticed that the root vegetables don?t have seeds, but still have vegetation above the ground. Discussed how insects transport pollen. Art: Painted our flower pots Math: Counted our seeds before planting. Sorted by type- observing their size and shape, flower connect-the-dot page Snack: Sunflower seeds, sugar snap peas, pumpkin seeds and carrots |
