About Summerville Moms

Summerville Moms

We are a casual group of moms located in the Summerville and surrounding areas. Our goal is to create a fun environment for our children and moms to get to know each other and participate in group activities.

New Members:

  • Because we are a Mom's Club and we bring our children to events, we are very cautious about adding new members. New members must be referred by an active member to receive immediate membership. You may invite anyone that you know or moms that you meet in person (such as the play area at Chick-fil-A).
  • We are open to admitting moms who apply via the internet for the first time. HOWEVER, they must meet one of our members before we will grant them access to our site. We do this for the safety of our children. Moms who apply for the first time will be contacted to arrange a meeting at a public venue in Summerville.

Events:

  • Everyone can add events to the calendar. As a matter of fact, we encourage you to do so! There are no rules for time, location, or day of the week. If you are interested in an activity, throw it on the calendar and see if someone else wants to go with you.
  • We can only have 20 people set up as "Assistant Organizers" for this group. These are the people that have rights to add/change events on the calendar. If you want to be an Assistant Organizer shoot me a quick email.
  • If you want to schedule an event and you are not an Assistant Organizer, send one of the Assistant's an email.
  • When adding events to the calendar, please keep in mind that we like to maintain a balance between free events (like parks, swimming, etc) and paid events (museums, Rolly Pollies, etc).
  • Some ideas for activities that you may want to plan: Playgroup (infant, 1-2, 2-3, etc), Aquarium, Parks, Flowertown Festival, Exercise Club, Book Club, Moms Night Out, Dinner and a Movie, Cooking Club, Shopping, Middleton Plantation, Craft Clubs, etc, etc, etc.

Money:

  • We do not collect dues from our members. We understand that everyone is not in the same financial position.
  • If you need to collect money for an event that you have scheduled such as a Craft Club, please indicate this on your invitation and collect cash at the event.
  • If you would like to donate money toward the upkeep of this website, you may do so with cash or via paypal (mflaherty@sc.rr.com).

Sales Meetings/Parties and Advertising:

  • First and foremost, please remember that the purpose of this site is to support moms and children having fun and meeting others in the local community. While we do want to encourage our moms to do business with each other as much as possible. The purpose of this board is not advertising related. Therefore, we have institued the limits detailed below.
  • A sales meeting/party is something like Pampered Chef, Disovery Toys, etc. In order to schedule a sales meeting/party, you must donate $5 to the our website for each event BEFORE you schedule the event.
  • Mom-to-Mom advertising is for things like babysitting, homes for rent, your home based business (not sales parties). You may send one group email for free per quarter. You may not for any reason email a solicitation more than once a quarter. If you do, you will be warned. On the second offence you will be removed from the group.

Please feel free to give us feedback on the meetings you attend. We would love to know how we can improve.
